The Unlocked Room is a participatory practice set up by Lucy Alexander and Tim Meara with the aim of initiating possibilities for living and working together differently.
We design, re-construct or re-purpose charged spaces that sit at a remove from the art school and function as a point to look at here and now from there. These structures contain participants for extended durations, allowing for new behaviours and patterns of thinking and doing to emerge.
We explore the proposition that bodies confined in close proximity for periods of time will build new systems of empathy, trust and collective practice that are transformative.
